Free-body and flexural motion of a floating elastic plate under wave maker forcing

One difficulty with computing the surge of a floating elastic plate is that Green's function for the boundary value problem has singularities at the corners of the boundary. This paper shows how to resolve the integrals over the corners using the Kummer transform to separate the singular part of Green's function. The resulting numerical computation avoids the singular parts altogether. The often used zero-draft approximation allows no surge important in water-tank scaled experiments.
