dc.description.abstractThis design research endeavoured to challenge persistent negative narratives about Māori health inequity. I acknowledged the limitations of the scope for this research. It aspired to be one of many seeds planted towards imagining and transforming an equitable healthcare system. I utilised design frameworks such as human-centred and participatory design to evaluate their effectiveness in enhancing reflection on the meaning of health equity. This investigation engaged keen members of a quality improvement and innovation unit situated within a large public hospital. To assist this organisation with recognising their responsibility and capability for honouring te Tiriti o Waitangi. Therefore, it was essential to collaborate with Māori to maintain an authentic and reciprocal partnership. This research tested the effectiveness of using design methods for learning about the meaning of equity. The findings from this study revealed that personal action and transformation were more significant than using design methods to enhance reflection with others. Furthermore, the research journey affirmed my positioning and confidence in myself as a tangata Tiriti.en_NZ
