During the Covid-19 crisis, the number of individuals producing video diaries about their lockdown experiences for social media increased dramatically. In many ways, these video lockdown diaries are similar in nature to the type of vlog regularly produced, and subject to analytical scrutiny, prior to the 2020 Covid-19 epidemic, however in many ways they are also different. The objective of this research is to examine these lockdown vlogs to find out more about their content, the reasons for their production, and their typical generic structures. Ultimately, by drawing upon existing literature on the vlog, it seeks to establish whether they might be classified as a unique genre in their own right.en_NZ
