Abstract

This visual arts project explores the socio-legal terrain of the everyday. Through a series of interventions, in sites of public and private space, this project seeks to employ tactics that nudge at, and therefore test, the boundaries of the social norms and legal constraints that govern daily life. These tactics, if seen, will question and resist (il)legal affirmation; and at the same time provide evidence of the transgression that has occurred. The photograph, the televisual image and the ephemera of the event, all continue to service the notion of evidence or the 'live'. And while these traces are unable to reveal the whole story, they suggest a certain futility in our continued willingness to see a single truth; and as temporary injunctions, gift alternative views of the everyday.
