Abstract
This project is an extension of ongoing enquiries in my professional art practice, and explores ephemeral phenomena on the threshold of perceptibility. In particular the project investigates a form of ‘plastic invisibility’, exploring territories of transformation between physical states, and seeks to frame, invoke or reify material and sensory qualities which are marginal, unstable, dynamic or transitional. Through art making the project studies how we might encounter or intuit such states or qualities, and how objects/images from memory are drawn into that experience. The method incorporates and references aspects of diverse practices such as shamanism and perfume making — and elaborates connections between these perspectives and their potential as sculptural material.Description
