dc.description.abstract | IMG: seeing as feeling, explores painting for its capacity to act directly on our nervous system. With a focus on eluding attachments of text, narrative and generalizing concept, this project aims to facilitate an encounter in which the paintings are primarily experienced as images. In making these images, the roles of artist and spectator are interchanged in order to clear the accretion of signs that flood into the reading. Cleared of signification, the work opens up the potential for the spectator to encounter the images unmediated through their previous experience. | en_NZ |
