| dc.description.abstract | This project explores the idea that perception is inherently opaque, ambiguous and can never be fully comprehended. Through the process of creating sets and manipulating commonplace objects and phenomena in front of the camera, I invite the viewer to meditate upon scenes that play with notions of perception. The materials undergo a transformation, where they may transcend familiar properties and specific contexts. Although the viewers have information that enables them to recognise the materiality of the scene, careful framing isolates the objects and phenomena from the contexts against which they would ordinarily be viewed. Feelings of fascination for these disembodied, timeless objects may allow the viewer to inhabit this world. | |
