dc.description.abstractThis practice-led research project creatively considers the potential of the short lyrical documentary. In so doing, the Thesis examines the nature of a specific genre of Asian television advertising and creatively applies it to a distinct form of narrative social portraiture. The practical component of the thesis is concerned with the design, direction and realisation of two short, lyrical documentary portraits that explore the theme of aspiration.en_NZ
