The COVID 19 crisis has brought forward the global adoption of remote work by at least ten years (Lister, 2020), and many organizations are doing it for the first time now. These organizations have been forced to adapt to this new working style, and this urgency left organizations with no time to develop strategies or time to reflect on whether remote working will advance their long-term sustainability and employee satisfaction (Conboy & Noel, 2020). Many managers are concerned about a loss of productivity when more of their employees work from home. Therefore, many firms have started using productivity management software to monitor their employees' activities while they work from home. This study aims to understand how the monitoring of employees affects employees’ goal-oriented behaviour, productivity, and physical and mental well-being, as well as employers' trust in their staff.en_NZ
