Today Knowledge Management (KM) is being considered as a strategic management tool inclusive of all types of organisations. Universities being the research-intensive and knowledge generating academic institutions are better placed to practice knowledge management than any other organisation. With the above in mind, this study aims to explore and ascertain the knowledge management practices at the University of Botswana. The main objectives of the study were to: identify the valuable/critical knowledge; the major knowledge management initiatives; the existence of basic KM infrastructure; and, establish the major challenges faced at the University of Botswana in the successful implementation of KM. A structured questionnaire was used to carry out the study.en_NZ
