This research investigates intuition in design and draws from traditional aesthetics, techniques, and values to explore and articulate strategies to enable a more contemporary and intuitive approach to interior design in China. Design concepts constitute a fundamental element of artistic design and typically emerge through two seemingly conflicting approaches: intuitive and rational thinking. While rational thinking relies on explicit knowledge and is well-suited for logical reasoning, intuitive thinking draws from tacit knowledge, operating on an instinctive or subconscious level. In practice, intuitive thinking plays a crucial role in various stages of the design process, exerting a substantial influence on the ultimate impact of designs.
