The enigma opens up questions rather than gives answers and as such remains inconclusive. Because of its indefinable nature the enigmatic art-object embodies multiple modes of absence. These absences are discussed in relation to the idea of potential, which is considered as a faculty or force that gestures forth participation. Thus, this absent presence becomes the fuel for a multitude of operations that play out potentiality in an encounter between viewer and art-object. This project examines how the enigmatic art-object might enable this force and become an abundant source of fuel that remains mobile and productive.enPotentialityEnigmaPart-objectAbsenceIndefinableParticipationOperationHandmadePotentialities of the Enigmatic Art-ObjectThesisOpenAccess2013-11-22
