Abstract
The developments and innovations in Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) fields as well as people’s lifestyle are forcing educators to update CSE curriculum to suit the needs of our students and their learning styles. In this talk the presenter will highlight some good practices and future trends in CSE education based on a recent review of literature and the views and experiences of the presenter as an educator. While CSE is a vast discipline, the talk will narrow down and focus on Computer networking and hardware fields which are often included in the CSE curricula. This talk will address the following key questions. • How do we teach CSE courses more effectively? • What sort of resources do we need for experiential learning? • Is flexible (anytime, anywhere) learning approach suitable for CSE education? • Are virtual laboratories appropriate for computer networking education? • Is mobile learning (m-learning) model suitable for CSE education? By considering these issues we can determine how much emphasis should be placed on updating CSE curriculum to suit the diverse learning styles of our students. This is a knowledge sharing talk suitable for general audience.
