dc.description.abstract | Research suggests that many mental health institutions are disconnected from their patients needs. Patients report that they are not being listened to, taken seriously or having their experiences validated. The way to treat serious mentally ill patients is still a mystery to science and in an underfunded health system, quick fix solutions are the treatment of choice. A famous psychiatrist and psychoanalyst from the 20th Century, Dr. R. D. Laing was able to listen to his psychotic patients and provide a healing environment. This research asks how this man was able to listen and contain his psychotic patients and what did he draw on that was conducive to healing his patients? | en_NZ |
