To Talanoa, you have a personal encounter with another person in conversation. To begin this project, the process of Talanoa is used in a respectful journalistic mode and sensibility for collecting stories of the everyday. This project enacts narratives that have been collected through everyday interactions with people, both within my community and abroad. In reacting to the prevalent issues gathered from minority groups, such as the working class, migrants and religious groups; and by exploring tropes of migration and their subsequent interaction with hegemony; the desire is to bring these overlooked realities of the everyday people into visibility through art. By enacting these stories through performative and material practice the outcome offers a sometimes humorous, and possibly powerful symbolic, emic viewpoint to the Western metanarrative.en_NZ
