Avis has anger issues, and one of the things that makes her angry, and very confused, is the fact that her brain insists on telling her that the people around her aren’t human. Her coffee server is an elf, her lawyer is a leprechaun, and just to make things worse, a succubus has broken into her living room… Patrick McIrish, former friend of her father, friend of her mother and all around nosy parker, comes back into her life when Avis receives a tip off advising her to look into her accounts. As if a theft investigation and a courtroom aren’t stressful enough, Avis now has a leprechaun for a lawyer and struggles to keep the court from finding out ‘Mad Malone’s kid is following in his footsteps. Then, everything changes when a succubus drops the biggest shock of her life in her lap; she’s not crazy, there’s a whole community of fantastic creatures out there, and he needs her help to find one of them. Now, centaurs are going missing, unicorns are turning up dead and to top it off Avis’ business partner has successfully made off with her money. In a world where human denial and perception are blinding absolutes and fantastic creatures walk among us, Avis is starting to wish that she was just mad after all.
